I have a 65lb Lab/Hound mix who is 11. He likely partially tore his cruciate ligament while running/chasing in the yard. He was examined by 3 different vets and the options were TPLO surgery, chronic use of Carprofen or Librala injections monthly. My doberman had TPLO surgery. I was advised to put him on supplements. A certain brand was recommended to me, but I did my own research. My lab ended up with bilateral partial acl tears. She was only 4 hrs old. I took her to the vet and he suggested surgery. #1 I couldn't afford surgery even with insurance and #2 I didn't want to put her through that. Wrigley is showing improvement. She’s got more pep in her step, and can walk around the block now instead of just half way. She’s 11 1/2 and diabetic. We still don’t do more than a few stairs, but she can get up on the couch without assistance, although she sometimes still asks for help.
